Transgendered (TG) A blanket term for all gender variant people.
Transvestite (TV) Mean cross dresser, but is now considered a derogatory term. In some parts of the world, it is a cross dresser or dresses for sexual reasons.
Transsexual (TS) A person who feels they were born in the wrong gender and wish to live as the gender opposite of their birth. Some seek sexual reassignment surgery to make the bodies match their perceived gendered.
Cross Dresser (CD) A person who expresses the gender opposite their birth gender by dressing as the opposite gender. Most are heterosexual,  married, and have children.
Transgenderist (TG) A person who lives full time as the gender opposite of their birth, but chooses not to have SRS. Often called non-op transsexuals.
SRS Sexual Reassignment Surgery.
GRS Gender Reassignment Surgery. Same as SRS.
Transvestic Fetishist A person who wears the clothes of the opposite gender for sexual gratification. Often a few articles of lingerie.
Female-to-Male (FtM) A female whose identifies as male.
Male-to-Female (MtF) A male who identifies as female.
HBIGDA Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria  Association.
Standards of Care (SOC) The guidelines used by therapist and surgeons to treat transsexuals. Usually 3 months or more of therapy, living as your new gendered for a year, and hormones before you can have SRS.
Autogynephilia A controversial concept, best described as "the propensity to be sexually aroused by the thought or image of oneself as a woman." Considered by some to be a motivation for transition in some TS women, especially later-transitioning women.
Sexual Preference Why is this here? One's sexual preference has nothing to do with the perceived gender. Just because a person is a CD, TS, or other gender variant, does not mean they are gay, lesbian, straight, or bisexual.
Androgynous A person who looks and feels like both genders or neither gender. Think of 'Pat' on Saturday Night Live.
Intersex A person born with  physical characteristics of both genders. Many variations. Often referred to as hermaphrodite.
Gender Variant A person who expresses in part, both genders. Either through dress, actions, or both. Also called Gender F@$*, Gender Queer, etc...
